Since 2004, Cannamed, has made a name for itself in California by offering medical marijuana consultations and now Cannamed is conducting medical marijuana consultations in the greater Boston area (Framingham) as per The Initiative Petition for a Law for the Humanitarian Medical Use of Marijuana that passed pursuant to Amendment Article 48 of the Massachusetts Constitution.

Cannamed’s founder and president, Louis J. Rosner, M.D., is a retired professor of neurology at UCLA. For years, Dr. Rosner taught neurology, did research, and saw new patients at UCLA Medical Center until his retirement in 2000. Rosner also ran the UCLA Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Clinic, and wrote “Multiple Sclerosis: New Hope and Practical Advice for Patients and their Families,” which is highly regarded within the MS community. In the book, he discusses the value of marijuana use in patients with MS.

Dr. Rosner is world renown in the use of medical cannabis for pain management. Rosner advises that medical marijuana should only be recommended to patients by doctors who are knowledgeable in pain management. He also states that a thorough physical examination should be given, not a virtual conference online, before the recommendation is given. Doctors at medical marijuana clinics approve or recommend marijuana but do not prescribe it.

The conditions in which cannabis is valuable include chronic pain conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, cervical disc disease, lumbar disc disease, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-herpetic neuralgia, plantar fasciitis, menstrual cramps, migraine headaches, and peripheral neuropathy.

Cannabis can also be extremely effective with mood disorders, including: anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Other conditions that are responsive to marijuana include: insomnia, anorexia, asthma, glaucoma, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s disease, chemotherapy side effects, nausea and vomiting, menopause, epilepsy, restless legs syndrome, and sleep apnea.
